Part 2 of DIRTY LITTLE BALCK GIRLS

Last epidose, we spoke candidly with Writer Ione Lloyd about her play, Dirty Little Black Girls-A ground breaking play about four modern-day slaves in three neighboring brownstones in Park Slope, Brooklyn; a 16 year-old Nigerian domestic; an African-American nanny secretly pursuing a masters degree; a 50-something Jamaican lesbian housekeeper who is having a love affair with the Caucasian lady of the house.  In the end, the shape-shifting “devil” teaches the women the joy in making a good mess.

How does this story relate to Black women today?

This week, we introduce the term Womanism...Out of the Feminist movement, the theory to consider the stuggle for equality was much deeper for Black women. They fought the evils of racism and class oppression in additon to sexism and ecominic excluision.

Where are we today? Where are the womanist today? Is the struggle any different/same? From Alice Walker to Audre Lorde, join as we we reminise and discuss the nature of black womens representation, subjection in additon to our need for acknowledgement and empowerment.
