In this show I interviewed Dr. Bill Bateman on the subject of Humor and Humor in Business Leadership.

Dr. Bill Bateman is an adjunct professor at Trine University. He teaches in the areas of leadership and finance. Most students call him Dr. B.

Dr. Bateman was previously Vice President and Chief Credit Officer at Capital Automotive Real Estate Services, (CARS) in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia. Before that he spent ten years on the full-time faculty at the DeVos Graduate School of Management at Northwood University. Bill  is  the past President of the Michigan Campus at Northwood University. He most recently was the chair of the management department at Walsh College in Troy, Michigan.

Before he began his career in higher education, Bill spent 25 years as a commercial banker and Vice President with Comerica and SunTrust banks. He has also worked in Commercial Real Estate and private equity in the D.C area.

He holds a DBA from Nova Southeastern University, an MSM from Walsh College and a BBA from Western Michigan University. Additionally, he has been a Certified Valuation Analyst, (CVA), holds a post-graduate certificate in Corporate Finance and is a certified leadership trainer and coach for the John Maxwell Team.

Although Bill has worked in the finance space much of his career, his degrees are in Management and Leadership. He has studied all over the country with leadership gurus like John Maxwell, Ken Blanchard, Paul Hersey, Dave Ramsey and Marshall Goldsmith. Bill’s doctoral research was on the relationship between humor and leadership style.

He lives in The Villages in Florida with his wife Kim who is also a college professor. . Bill has been involved in Improv comedy groups and likes to ride his golf cart around The Villages and meet new people.
